Jentadueto 2.5 mg/1000 mg (Linagliptin/Metformin Hydrochloride)
Jentadueto is a combination of two antihyperglycemic agents: Linagliptin, a dipeptidyl peptidase-4 (DPP-4) inhibitor, and Metformin Hydrochloride, a biguanide. It is indicated as an adjunct to diet and exercise to improve glycemic control in adults with type 2 diabetes mellitus. Linagliptin works by increasing the hormones that stimulate the pancreas to produce more insulin and the liver to produce less glucose. Metformin works by decreasing glucose production in the liver and improving insulin sensitivity. Common side effects include diarrhea, nausea, and abdominal discomfort. It should be taken with meals to reduce gastrointestinal side effects. It is not for the treatment of type 1 diabetes or diabetic ketoacidosis.
