Galvus Met is a combination antidiabetic medication containing Vildagliptin, a dipeptidyl peptidase-4 (DPP-4) inhibitor, and Metformin hydrochloride, a biguanide. It is used to improve glycemic control in adults with type 2 diabetes mellitus when diet, exercise, and single-agent therapies do not provide adequate control. Vildagliptin works by making the pancreas produce more insulin and less glucagon, while Metformin helps the body make better use of insulin and reduces glucose production in the liver. Common side effects include nausea, dizziness, and gastrointestinal upset. It is usually taken twice daily with or just after food to minimize stomach discomfort.
