Co-Micardis (Telmisartan 80 mg / Hydrochlorothiazide 12.5 mg)
Co-Micardis is a combination antihypertensive medication containing Telmisartan and Hydrochlorothiazide. Telmisartan is an angiotensin II receptor antagonist (ARB) that works by blocking the action of substances that tighten blood vessels, effectively relaxing them. Hydrochlorothiazide is a thiazide diuretic (water pill) that reduces blood pressure by helping the kidneys eliminate excess salt and water. This dual-action medication is indicated for the treatment of essential hypertension in adults whose blood pressure is not adequately controlled by Telmisartan alone. Lowering blood pressure reduces the risk of fatal and non-fatal cardiovascular events, primarily strokes and myocardial infarctions. Common side effects include dizziness, fatigue, and potential electrolyte imbalances.
