Co-Micardis (Telmisartan 40 mg / Hydrochlorothiazide 12.5 mg)
Co-Micardis is a fixed-dose combination antihypertensive medication containing Telmisartan and Hydrochlorothiazide. Telmisartan is an angiotensin II receptor antagonist (ARB) that blocks the vasoconstrictor and aldosterone-secreting effects of angiotensin II, leading to blood vessel relaxation. Hydrochlorothiazide is a thiazide diuretic that reduces blood pressure by increasing the excretion of sodium and water. This combination is indicated for the treatment of essential hypertension in adults whose blood pressure is not adequately controlled on Telmisartan monotherapy. Management of hypertension significantly reduces the risk of cardiovascular morbidity and mortality, including stroke and heart attack. Common side effects may include dizziness, fatigue, and headache.
